Hi, MACtivists - 

One of the many, many ways educators demonstrate their dedication to students is by paying out of their own pockets for classroom essentials and even basic needs for children like food, clothing and toiletries. 

We recently conducted a member survey about this and the answers were shocking, but not terribly surprising. Read on... 

According to our member survey: 

✏️ 90 percent spent personal funds on classroom supplies. 

💰 80 percent spent personal funds on students' basic needs.  

💵 36 percent spent more than $500 annually. 

🏦 20 percent spent more than $1,000 annually.

This generosity shows how deeply our educators care - but they shouldn't have to choose between their students' needs and their own financial security.

There's a solution: NYSUT is fighting for a new educator tax credit of up to $1,000.

TAKE ACTION: Tell lawmakers it's time to create a new educator tax credit!

Our teachers will never stop supporting their students. Now it's our turn to support them. Tell lawmakers to create a new educator tax credit today!
