Hi, MACtivists -

Career and Technical Education (CTE) is having a moment β€” and for good reason. From state capitals to Washington D.C., leaders are recognizing what educators have long known: hands-on, career-focused learning works. These programs are increasingly popular with families seeking real-world skills and clear career pathways for their children.

But there's a disconnect in New York's workforce pipeline that we need to fix.

Read on...

Invest in our future with BOCES and CTE programs.

Here's the problem:

πŸŽ“ Students are eager to access careers that can sustain themselves and their families.

πŸ’Ό Employers are desperate for skilled workers in critical industries.

❌ But BOCES and other CTE programs that connect these dots are funded using a formula that hasn't changed since the early 1990s.

The result? Long waitlists for CTE programs across the state. We're turning away students from healthcare, manufacturing, IT and other sustainable careers at a time when these industries need workers most.

Here's the solution:

πŸ”„ Update the BOCES aid formula.

πŸ“ˆ Expand funding for Special Services Aid.

πŸ—οΈ Create capacity for more CTE programs and instructors.

This is a triple win: Students get direct paths to high-paying careers, employers gain qualified workers ready to contribute and New York's economy and essential services stay strong.

TAKE ACTION: Tell lawmakers it's time to invest in our students and New York’s future workforce by including S.528 (Mayer)/A.3430 (Conrad) in the Enacted Budget.

The demand is there. The jobs are there. Let's fix the funding gap that's holding everyone back. Fund BOCES and CTE programs to meet New York's workforce needs!
